Daniel L. Ellis, Sr. passed away Friday, May 16, 2014.

Born in Struthers, Ohio, he was a son of the late Paul and Stella Bailey Ellis.

Mr. Ellis attended Youngstown State College and owned and operated Dan Ellis Builders Corporation while living in Ohio. Dan was a member of Mahoning Valley Home Builders Association and the Masonic Lodge in Poland, Ohio. After moving to South Carolina, he was an active member of Taylors First Baptist Church, where he had served as a Deacon.

Surviving are his wife, Nancy; daughter, Colleen Lanier (Kevin); son, Col. Daniel Ellis, Jr. (Tina); three grandchildren, Tyler and Spencer Ellis and Ellis Lanier; sisters, Marian Downing and Ollamae Canfield; and sister-in-law, Delores Ellis. He was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.

A memorial service will be held in the Chapel of Taylors First Baptist Church on Monday, May 19, 2004, at 2:00 p.m. The family will receive friends in the Gathering Space following the service.
