Mrs. Jane H. Carney, 88, of 1607 Holland Ave., widow of George M. Carney, owner of the Carney Drugstore at Oneida Square for many years, died yesterday in St. Elizabeth Hospital after a long illness. She was born in Ilion, daughter of Michael and Anne Donlon Hartford, and attended Ilion schools. She had lived in Utica since 1933. She was married to Mr. Carney in 1908. He died in 1951.-The couple operated a drugstore in Ilion from 1909 to 1932, prior to coming to Utica.
Mrs. Carney was a member of St. Francis de Sales Church and its Altar-Rosary Society, Christ Child Society, Catholic Women's Club, and the B Sharps Musical Society. She leaves three sons, John H. Carney and G. Robert Carney, both of Utica, and William D. Carney of Rochester.
The funeral will be at 9;30 Monday from the Doyle Funeral Home and at 1 0 from St. Francis de Sales Church. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Calling hours are 7 to 9 tonight and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 tomorrow.
