Katherine Boyle Abel McGuire, 86, of 913 Lynn Street, New Castle, PA passed away on January 1, 2013. She had been a long time resident of Mt. Lebanon prior to moving to New Castle.
Born on September 24, 1926 in Pittsburgh, she was the daughter of Edward and Catherine Servatius Boyle. She was preceded in death by her parents and her first husband John R. Abel, CPA in 1970.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law with whom she made her home, Jim and Kathy Birtalan of New Castle; her son, Jack Abel (Hope) of Dormont; brother, John E. Boyle of Florida and grandchildren, Jim E. and Connie Birtalan and John and Erin Birtalan of New Castle and Kate Abel of Dormont. She is also survived by the joys of her world, her great grandchildren Jake Birtalan and Lily Katherine Birtalan.
She married Charles McGuire in 1985.
Katherine was a graduate of Cathedral High School and the University of Pittsburgh. She was a member of and President of Theta Phi Alpha Sorority. She worked for Mt. Lebanon School District as a teacher until her retirement. She volunteered at Mayview State Hospital.
There was no visitation and services were private. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Pittsburgh.
