TWO RIVERS-Alice Ahrndt Proper, age 92 passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 26, 2013 at Agrace HospiceCare, Fitchburg with her loving family at her side. Alice was born on January 20, 1921, in Two Rivers, the daughter of Henry and Petronella (Koch) Ahrndt. Alice was a 1939 graduate of Washington High School. She was united in marriage to Warren J. Proper on April 6, 1940 in Two Rivers. While Warren was away serving his country, Alice raised their children. She had a variety of interests, including gardening and fishing with her husband and grandchildren. After retirement, she enjoyed many trips to Hawaii with Warren. Alice is survived by her daughters, Sue (Don) Christel and Jean (Dan) Surfus; grandchildren, Todd Christel, Brian (Randi) Christel, Sherie (Andrew) Schuster, Jill Surfus and Adam Surfus; great grandchildren, Morgan, Taylor, Chad, Nathan and Nolan; a special niece, Kathleen Peashek and many other nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and her siblings, Hugo Ahrndt, Adeline Woida, George Ahrndt, Agnes Wolf and Joe Ahrndt. Funeral Services will be held at GUNDERSON WEST FUNERAL & CREMATION CARE, 7435 University Ave., Middleton at 1:00 PM on Monday, December 30, 2013. Visitation will be held on Monday from 11:30 AM until the time of the service at the funeral home. Entombment will be held at Knollwood Mausoleum in Two Rivers.
