Leo Jeffries
March 21, 1920 - January 22, 1988
Leo Jeffries, 67, Brookston, died at 11:33 am. Friday, Jan. 22, in St. Elizabeth Hospital Medical Center in Lafayette. He had been a patient there since Jan. 17.

Mr. Jeffries was a truck driver and a dispatcher for Skelly Oil Co. before retiring.

Born March 21, 1920, in Hardin County, Ky., he had lived in the Brookston community for the past 48 years. He was married to Lola H. Nichols, June 3, 1939 in Brookston. She survives.

Mr. Jeffries was a member of Brookston United Methodist Church and Monticello Libanus Masonic Lodge 154. He served in the Army during World War II and was a member of American Legion Post 251 in Brookston.

Surviving with the wife are a daughter, Mrs. Ron (Leola) Widmer, R.2, Brookston; two sons, Stanley Jeffries, R.2, Brookston and David Jeffries, Brookston; a brother, Jeff Jeffries, West Lafayette; and one sister, Mrs. Fred (Maxine) Dunker, Brookston.

Also six grandchildren, and 1 great grandson survive. Two brothers, Charles and Russell preceded in death.

The service was at Hartzler Funeral Home, Brookston, Monday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Gene Ansell officiating. Burial was in IOOF Cemetery, Brookston.
