Meeko came to us by a twist of fate you might say. My daughter bought a toy chihuahua from a pet shop, but the poor thing only lived for one night. My daughter was devastated. The pet shop offered to give her a refund. When she went to the shop the next day, two small chihuahua's were brought in and literally dumped onto the floor by a man and woman. They demanded to know how much money would the shop owner give them for the two puppies. My daughter and the owner of the shop were horrified by the way these two precious animals were being treated. You could tell they had been abused. My daughter offered to take one of the chihuahua pups instead of a refund. So she got little Meeko. One of her teeth had been kicked out of her mouth. Not long after, My daughter and her family moved to another city about 4 hours away. Into an apartment until they could find the house they wanted to buy. We offered to keep Meeko until they were all settled. About a year later they were in a position to take her back but by then my husband and I and our dog trigger had grown super fond of her and we asked if we could keep her. she became a part of our family. She became a constant companion and best friend to our dog Trigger ( an Australian Shephard) they used to run and play together everyday. She became ill quite suddenly and she was misdiagnosed by the vet. By the time the vet realized what was really going on with her it was too late to save her. She spent 3 days in misery and I cried and held her and tried to keep her as comfortable as possible. The few minutes I finally layed her down and walked away for just a few minutes, that's when she passed. I think she was hanging on because she didn't want me to see. At that very moment that she passed, trigger howled in another room. That's how I knew to check on her right then . We love and miss our Meeko so much. She was with us for about 8 years. Not nearly long enough!
