Grace Douglas, 84, died today, Feb. 27, 1986, at 4:45 a.m. in the Decatur County Memorial Hospital.
She had been a resident at the Heritage House Nursing Home several years. Prior to that she resided since 1950 in Lincoln Park. She came to Greensburg and for many years the family lived at 412 N. Lincoln St.
Douglas was born July 24, 1901, in Vevay, the daughter of Albert Brown and Eda May Stewart Douglas. She graduated from Lakeview High School in Chicago, the Pestalozzi-Frobel Teachers College and Ball State University.
Douglas retired from teaching in 1967. She had taught in Greensburg 24 years. Earlier she taught in Rush County, Wayne County and at New Point. She was a member of the Greensburg Methodist Church, the BPW Club, Internationally Yours, the Tuesday Town Home Economics Club and the WSCS of the Methodist Church.
She is survived by one sister, Mrs. James (Helen) Sloan, New Jersey. She was preceded in death by a brother, who died in infancy, and a twin sister, Gertrude, who died at an early age.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Gilliland-Howe Funeral Home, with the Rev. Leland Brett officiating. Burial will be in the South Park Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday.
