Jimmie "Jim" Ashe, 69, of Andrews, formerly of Hayesville, died Friday (July 16) in a Macon County hospital. Jim was a native of Clay County where he had lived most of his life until moving to Andrews in 2000. He was the son of Edna Gregory Ashe of Hayesville and the late Robert R. "Bob" Ashe. He graduated from Hayesville High School and was an Army veteran and served time in Germany and he received the Good Conduct Medal. Jim was a retired shift supervisor with Coats American. He was a member of the Ledford's Chapel United Methodist Church where he had served as a Pastor Parish Relation on the Administrative Board and on the financial committee. He was also a member of the Hayesville Civitan Club.

He was preceded in death by a son, Robert "Bobby" Ashe, who died July 28, 2002 and a brother, Joe Ashe.

Surviving, in addition to his mother, are his wife of 30 years, Becky Postell Ashe; two daughters, Linda Ashe and Missy Ashe both of Hiawassee, GA; a daughter-in-law, Teresa Ashe of Hayesville; two brothers, Edward Ashe and wife, Brenda and Charles "Bub" Ashe and wife, Betty all of Hayesville; a sister-in-law, Mildred Ashe of Blue Ridge, GA; seven grandchildren, Julie, Rhonda, Tasha, Chris, Jessica, Jonie, and Jordan; and four great grandchildren.
