Andrew Whitney Sr. was born on 26 April 1804, to Ezra Whitney Jr. (1760-1842) and Sally Ada Hooker (1765-1850). He had 10 siblings:

Andrew died on 2 November 1856 in New York.

Clementine filed letters of Probate for Andrew on 9 January 1857.
