James "Jake Andrews", of Plesant Mount, died Friday after a wonderful life that was filled with love. His wife of 42 years is the former Nancy Thiede.
Born in Carbondale, he was the son of the late Joseph and Mildred Treat Andrews. Jake was a graduate of Forest City regional School class of 1963. He worked several years in the road construction industry and subsequently founded his own small excavating business, Andrews Construction. He retired in 2005. He was a farmer at heart and loved the country life and the farmland on which he was raised. He looked forward to summer days spent in his garden and berry patches.
He was a friend to all and foe to none.
Jake could repair anything, build everything and had incredible common sense. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening, fishing, hunting and spending Sundays with his family. He was a charter member of the Northfork Hunting Club.
Also surviving are his son, Brett Andrews and wife Pamela, Wanamie Pa.: and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Donald and Richard Andrews.
The funeral service will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the Jones and Brennan Funeral Home, 430 Main street, Forest City. Internment, St. Joseph's Cemetery, Forest City.
