Samuel King was born in Conn. He was a Revolutionary War Veteran who responded to the Alarm of April 19, 1775. He served with the 5th Conn. Regiment known as the Connecticut Line. He was with Washington's Army at Valley Forge and fought in the battle of Monmouth and other battles. In 1782 he married Betsy Jones of Vernon Ct and moved to Acworth New Hampshire and then Langdon. His wife applied for a pension and was approved. In a letter she stated that he was wounded during the war.

His 3rd great grandfather was Mayflower Passenger Francis Cooke (1582-1663)
