Ritz began his hotel career by working as a manager at the Savoy Hotel, and then later opening the famous hotel, The Ritz Hotel (later Ritz Carlton) in London, England. Ritz also opened the Hotel Ritz Madrid in Madrid, Spain, and the Hotel Ritz in Paris, France, among others. Ritz died in Kussnacht, Switzerland, at the age of 68.
