Obituary for Alma Fox
Our beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother and great, great grandmother, Alma Fox, "Auntie" passed away at home surrounded by her children, Sept. 22, 2016. Alma and her twin sister, Nalma were born to Fox Crowson and Lilllian Meyers Crowson on May 6, 1919 in Fillmore, OK. She married Glen Fox, her high school sweetheart and moved to New Mexico during the great depression, looking for work. They arrived in the beautiful Mesilla Valley on Oct. 9, 1939. They found work and a welcoming community in Brazito and decided to stay there. The first Sunday they attended the Brazito Nondenominational Community Church which was located in the Brazito School House. They both worked very hard doing manual labor and saving every penny toward a farm of their own. They saved enough to rent a farm and then purchase one of their own. In 1945 while renting the Vickers place, their third child was born. That was the year they bought their first farm. Alma was a super homemaker and mother. She was a Cub Scout Den Mother, room mother, Mesilla Park PTA President, First Baptist Church Nursery teacher and chauffeur for their friends to attend events around town. Alma was the Worthy Advisor for Las Cruces Rainbow Chapter 12, Worthy Matron, Las Cruces Chapter 20, Order Eastern Star, President of Beauseant, A member of ABWA, the Southwest Quarter Horse Association, American Quarter Horse Association, the Farm Bureau and last but not least a member of the First Baptist Church. She had her family at church every time the doors opened and every summer for Vacation Bible School.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Glen, her son, Bobby Don Fox, grandson, Teddy Tankersley, Parents, sisters, Nalma, Neva Sue and Maudlee, brothers, Ruben and Fox Crowson, Jr. She is survived by children: Amelita Hill and Teddy Fox, grandchildren, Boyce Tankersley (Carol), Timothy Tankersley (Lois), Melody Munson (James) and Robin Koonce (Eddy) and great-grandchildren: Gabe Tankersley, Cecelia Soesbe (Beau), Lisa Vance (Bryce), Marissa Drager (Eric), Eric Munson (Marzia), Keith Munson, Kevin Munson, Dawnee Koonce.
