Lemoin McArthur
September 20, 1922 – May 24, 2015

Lemoin McArthur, resident of Garden Valley ID and formerly from Sequim, WA graduated to the next life on Sunday, May 24, 2015. He was born September 20, 1922 in St. Anthony, ID and was the fifth of eight children born to Daniel Duncan McArthur and Cora Edna (Allen) McArthur.

In 1937 the family moved to Lovell, WY where he graduated from high school in 1941. He joined the Wyoming National Guard as a junior in high school. In February 1941Troop A, 115 Cavalry National Guard was called into Federal Service. When WWII broke out they were assigned the defense of the OR coast and later the WA coast, the Mexican border and the South Pacific. Their horses were traded for motorized vehicles in 1942. While stationed in Long Beach, WA he met and married Beatrice Evelyn Alexson on December 18, 1943. He was on his way to Guam when WWII ended and he was discharged in December 1945. Their only child, JoAnn (McArthur) Allen was born in 1946.

While attending Centralia Junior College he worked as a manager of a Super Save gas station. Following graduation in 1952 the family moved to Spokane WA where he was the district manager for the company covering WA, OR, and ID. He was eventually promoted to Vice President. He served as a school board member for four years in the Spokane West Valley District. He later worked for the Gull Oil Company in WA and OR and Ocean Spray Cranberries in WA and MA.

He was a faithful and stalwart member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints having been baptized in an irrigation canal at the age of eight. He served in various church callings from Explorer Scout advisor, Ward Clerk, and was a Bishop in South Weymouth MA, Renton WA, Pt. Townsend WA and a Branch President in Chimacum, WA. He and his wife served for several years in the LDS Seattle Temple.

Upon retirement they were AZ snowbirds and wintered in Sequim, WA. Following the death of his wife in 2009 he moved to Garden Valley, ID to be near his daughter. He was thrilled with the warm welcome he received from the residents and enjoyed many a fishing trip with his "buddies".

He will be missed but we know he has gone to a better place and is being reunited with his wife and other loved ones who have gone ahead.
