Wife of Rufus P. Stevens.

Died - Mrs. Claressa C. Stevens, widow of the late R. R. Stevens. She was born in Indiana, March 20, 1830, and died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Z. T. Pickett, near Loretto, Neb., of pneumonia, November 26, 1901, aged 71 years, 8 months and 6 days.
She was converted and joined the M. E. church in early life and remained a faithful member of the same till some 18 years ago, when she joined the U. B. church at Beulah Chapel, Polk county, Nebraska, and remained a member till death called her on high. She leaves two sons, Chester A. and Frederick L. Stevens; two daughters, Mrs. Z. T. Pickett and Mrs. W. A. Graham; three brothers, one in Alabama and two in Kentucky, and a number of grandchildren to mourn her loss.
The funeral services were conducted by the writer in the presence of a number of sympathizing friends from Rev. 13:14, "Blessed are the death that died in the Lord." At the close her body was laid to rest in the Loretto cemetery, there to await the resurrection morn.
