Francis H. Peters, 85, Washington, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 18, 2010, at St. John's Mercy Hospital, Washington.

Mr. Peters was born March 6, 1925, in Washington, the son of Eugene Peters and wife Mary, nee Altemueller.

He was married to Corrinne Dieckhaus Oct. 6, 1946, at St. Francis Borgia Church, Washington.

Mr. Peters is survived by his wife, Corrinne Peters, nee Dieckhaus; one son, Don Peters and wife Pat, Washington; two brothers, Gilbert Peters and wife Mary, Holiday, Texas, and Kenneth Peters, Washington; one sister, Rosemary Biermann, Washington; a special nephew raised as a son, David Peters and wife Dianna, Florida state; three grandchildren, Doug Peters, Kansas City, Tim Peters and wife Lisa, Sioux Falls, S.D., and Kristen St. Louis, nee Peters, and husband Aaron, Windsor, Ontario, Canada; two great-grandchildren, Blake Timothy Peters, Sioux Falls, S.D., and Hayden Corrinne St. Louis, Windsor, Ontario, Canada; other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Anthony, Clarence, Victor and Robert Peters; and one sister, Arleen Bradshaw.

Mr. Peters was a member of VFW 2116, American Legion 218, Washington Elks Lodge, Knights of Columbus and Knights of Columbus Fourth Degree.

He was a very active member of Our Lady of Lourdes Parish. He served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II.

Mr. Peters was the recipient of the Bronze Star, Purple Heart and Good Conduct Medal while serving in the Army.

Funeral services were held Monday, Aug. 23, at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Washington, with Father Mike Boehm officiating.

Burial was in St. Francis Borgia Cemetery, Washington.

Memorials to Our Lady of Lourdes Building Fund or Washington Volunteer Fire Company are preferred.

The family was served by Miller Funeral Home, Washington.
