Original headstone marking the final resting place of Captain Samuel Brady (1756-1795), noted Revolutionary War officer of the Continental Army and heroic Frontier Scout who died at the age of 39. Burial Site: West Liberty Cemetery, West Liberty, West Virginia.

Theodore Roosevelt wrote the following of Captain Sam Brady, "For a dozen years after the close of the Revolution, Brady continued to be a tower of strength to the frontier settlers of Pennsylvania and Virginia. At the head of his rangers he harassed the Indians greatly, interfering with and assailing their war parties, and raiding on their villages and camps."
