Funeral services for Walter H. Mesner were held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 22, 1991, at the Gaudian-Eldridge Funeral Home in Paullina, Iowa, with Rev. Stephen Kamprath officiating.

The pallbearers were Michael Mulder, Robert Mulder, Keith Mesner, Richard Mulder, David Mesner and Mark George.

The final resting place is Prairie View Cemetery in Paullina, IA, under the care of the Gaudian-Eldridge Funeral Home.

OBITUARY
Walter Heinrich Paul Mesner, the son of Johann and Engelena Tuetjer Mesner, was born April 15, 1911, in Caledonia Township in O'Brien County, Iowa. He attended school at St. John's Lutheran School in Germantown.

In 1931, he was united in marriage to Sylvia Mae Traver in Paullina, Iowa. After their marriage, the couple settled in Paullina where Walter was employed as a carpenter and later was employed as caretaker of the Prairie View Cemetery in Paullina: until his retirement in 1973. He continued to make his home in Paullina until 1987 when he moved to the Wide View Rest Home in Paullina where he passed away on Tuesday, July 16, 1991, reaching the age of 80 years, 3 months and 1 day.

He was baptized on May 14,1911 and later confirmed on March 1, 1925, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Germantown. He was currently a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Paullina.

Walter is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Chester and Shirley Mesner of LeMars, Iowa and Dale and Gail Mesner of Daly City, California; two daughters and sons-in-law, LaVonne (Bonnie) and Darwin Mulder and Patricia and Peter Norton, both of Alton, Iowa; 20 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren; three half sisters, Mrs. Ella Appeldorn, Mrs. Marcella Appeldorn and Mrs. Luetta Dau, all of Paullina; one half brother, Leroy Mesner of Primghar; two step sisters, Mrs. Hilda Miller and Mrs. Lucille Hurtig of Paullina; also a host of other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers and sisters.
