Anna Bell Allen Portner, 80, of Sterling, Ill., died July 6, 2015, at Regency Health Care in Sterling.
She was born in Smiths Grove on Jan. 26, 1935, the daughter of Frank “Mitchell” and Nella (Tucker) Allen. She worked as a registered nurse for the Dixon State School and many local nursing homes. She married Raymond Portner in Dixon, Ill., on May 26, 1989. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, George Allen and Thomas Douglas Allen.

Survivors include her husband of Sterling; two children, Elizabeth Ann (Aaron) Mays of Oregon and Martinee Shanyfelt of Kentucky; eight grandchildren; many great- and great-great-grandchildren; four stepchildren, Wendy Armstrong of Rock Falls, Ill., Eric (Trina) Portner of Rock Falls, Kent Portner of Sterling, and Rex Portner of Rock Falls; nine stepgrandchildren; many stepgreat-grandchildren; three sisters, Eugenia Hadley of Smith’s Grove, Mary Jo Johnson of Oakland and Dorothy Allen Foster of Bowling Green; and a brother, Billy Allen of Bowling Green.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at The Worship Center in Dixon, with Pastor Michael Cole officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Dixon. Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday in the church. A memorial has been established. Funeral arrangements are by Jones Funeral Home in Dixon.
