Obituary dated January 4, 1907:

Old Settler Passes Away
News of Death of Henry Duncan of Medford Village, Received Here Friday Morning.
Death Caused by Pneumonia Thursday Evening at Home in That Village.

The announcement of the death of Mr. Henry Duncan, one of the pioneer residents of Steele county, will be received by his friends and acquaintances in this city with deep sorrow. He passed away at his home in the village of Medford at 9:45 o'clock Thursday evening, January 3d. death having been caused by pneumonia.

The news of Mr. Duncan's death was received in this city early Friday morning and was announced to his son E. C. Duncan, of Minneapolis, as he was aboard the North-Western train due here at 8:23 o'clock a.m. and on his way east. He immediately transferred to the Milwaukee train and went to Medford. The announcement of his father's death was a severe shock.

The late Mr. Duncan was taken ill about two weeks ago with a slight attack of pneumonia but it was not thought that his condition was serious. A short time prior to his death he sank rapidly and passed away Thursday evening.

The deceased was seventy-three years of age and was one of the pioneer settlers of this county, having come to this part of the state over thirty years ago. For many years he conducted a large farm a short distance from Medford. Ten years ago he moved into the village where he made his home up to the time of his death. He was a man highly respected by all who knew him, upright and honorable, and deeply attached to his friends and family.

Mr. Duncan is survived by his grief-stricken wife, one daughter, Mrs. Cheeseman of Medford, and two sons, one of whom, E.C. Duncan, is well known in Owatonna having at one time been engaged in the grocery business here and since selling out has been traveling for a wholesale house having Owatonna in his territory.

The funeral will be held Saturday afternoon at one o'clock from the family residence in Medford.
