James Crews (Jim) Hunter, 86, of Wrightsville Beach died Friday, July 10. He was born September 7, 1928 in Henderson, NC, the fifth child of Reverend Raleigh and Della Lowrey Hunter. He earned a BS degree from High Point College and a master's degree from UNC-G. Mr. Hunter retired in 1992 as vice president at Delmar Printing Company in Charlotte. He also served for twenty-five years as vice president at Hunter Publishing Company in Winston-Salem. After retirement, he spent many years as a real estate broker at Lake Norman. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church Wilmington and Wrightsville Beach Lions Club and formerly Maple Springs Methodist Church in Winston-Salem. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, his former wife Libby Hunter, brothers RA Hunter, Jr. and Charles Hunter and sisters Thelma Totherow and Hyacinth Diamont. Survivors include brother Bill Hunter and wife Sandra of Winston-Salem, NC; sons Brian Hunter and wife Janice of Scottsville, VA; Jeff Hunter and wife Ellison of Wilmington, NC; Randy Hunter and wife Debbie of New Bern, NC; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild. A memorial service will be held at 10am Monday at First Presbyterian Church Wilmington with a graveside service at Forsyth Memorial Park in Winston-Salem on Tuesday at 3pm.
