Mr. Balzano, husband of Katherine (Carey) Balzano, died Monday morning, February 12, at his home. He was born in New York City on August 16, 1925, son of the late Alexander and Marietta Balzano. He worked at the Waterbury Water Department for 33 years. He served in the U.S. Navy in the South Pacific during World War n. He was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, and a communicant of St. Joseph Church.
Besides his wife, he leaves two sons, Alexander Balzano of Sanford, N.C., and Francis Balzano of Watertown; and two sisters, Matilda Kretzmer of Long Island, N.Y. and Vincenza Koshel of New York City.

Joseph was the sixth of eight siblings: Claude,Vincenza, Helena,Amelia,Isabella,Joseph,Gloria and Matilda. His Navy buddy, Louis Codianni, of Waterbury.Conn. married his sister Gloria.
