ALBION – Edward S. "Buck" Papez, 79, of Newman Grove, formerly of Albion, died Monday, Jan. 1, 1996, at the Mid-Nebraska Lutheran Home of Newman Grove.
Services are 2 p.m. Thursday followed by Masonic services conducted by Albion Lodge No. 78 A.F. & A.M. at the United Church of Christ Congregational of Albion with the Rev. Mary Avidano officiating. Burial is at Rose Hill Cemetery of Albion with military rites conducted by American Legion Post No. 162 and VFW Post No. 736.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. today at the Levander Funeral Home of Albion.
Mr. Papez was born April 1, 1916, at Albion to Edward and Lodemia (Smith) Papez and was a 1934 graduate of Albion High School and attended Peru Normal College and the University of Nebraska. He was baptized at the Congregational Church of Albion.
He married Ruby Kristine Ribberud May 2, 1937, at Iowa and lived in Albion.
He served in the U.S. Navy for three years and received an honorable discharge.
He moved to Wisconsin and was a mail carrier returned to Newman Grove in the early 1970s and entered Mid-Nebraska in 1978.
He was a member of the Albion Masonic Lodge No. 78 A.F. & A.M. where he sered as a worshipful master and was a member of the church.
Survivors include one daughter, Mary Elizabeth of Newman grove; one sister, Phyllis Swanson of San Diego; and one brother, James of Portales, N.M.
He was preceded in death by his wife and one daughter.
