Ralph Hastings, 88, of Danville died July 18, 2015 in Danville. He was born January 29, 1927 in Pittsylvania County to Susie Dalton Hastings and Robert T. Hastings. He was married to Ida Mae Shelton Hastings, who predeceased him in January 2014. He attended Emmanuel Pentecostal Holiness Church. He also helped work with the Boy Scouts. He had worked for Virginia Carolina Tools aand was a veteran of the U.S. Navy during World War II in the Pacific Theatre and was one of the first to land on the island of Japan.
Mr. Hastings is survived by his two daughters, Susan H. Pritchett and Wanda H. Durham; two sons, Ralph Eugene Hastings and Stephen B. Hastings; brother, Ray Hastings; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren. Mr. Hastings was also preceded in death by a sister, Mary Frances Stevens and a brother, Robert T. Hastings.
Interment will be in the Emmanuel Pentecostal Holiness Church Cemetery.
