Gary Wayne Scalf age 67, of California Hollow, Barbourville, was born on September 30, 1947 in Knox County, Kentucky. He was a son of the late Jim Scalf and Nan Mills Scalf. Gary Wayne died Wednesday, July 22, 2015 at his home.

He was a member of the Friendship Holiness Church and was a retired Heavy Equipment Operator.

On May 8, 1965, he united in marriage to Mary Jo Jackson and to this union two beloved daughters were born.

Along with his parents, Gary Wayne was preceded in death by; five sisters; Hazel Hudson, Christine Sprinkles, Ellen Tuggle, Elon Tuggle and Charlene Hurst; three brothers; Estil Scalf, Cecil Scalf and Bobby Stewart.

Gary Wayne is survived by his dear wife of fifty-years, Mary Joe Scalf of California Hollow, Barbourville; his daughters; Carolyn Sue Throckmorton and husband, Tim and Brenda Lynn Feltner and husband, Joe all of Barbourville; his grandchildren; Brent Bargo who Gary Wayne raised as a son and fiancée, Elizabeth Richardson; Tyler Johnson, Blake Gibbs, Daniel Gibbs and Brayden Feltner; his sisters; Charlotte Baker and husband, Jim; Margie Sams, Nancy Lambert and husband, James; and Margie King all of Barbourville; his brothers; Lindsey Grubb Jr., Sunny Grubb, Calvin Grubb and wife Jane, and Ellis Jones all of Barbourville; Gary Wayne also leaves many other beloved relatives and dear friends to mourn his passing.

Funeral Services for Gary Wayne Scalf will be conducted in the Hopper Funeral Home Chapel, Sunday, July 26, 2015 at 2:00 pm with Rev. David Rice and Rev. Tommy Frazier officiating. Burial will follow in the Patterson Cemetery at Heidrick, with Dewayne Scalf, Gary Price, Rick Carnes, Wayne Carnes, Henry Sizemore, Billy Mills, Steve Grace and Charlie Miller; Honorary Pallbearers will be Jimmy Hudson, Frank Carnes, Charlie Widener, Bill Grace, Ken Frost and Claude Scalf. Friends will be received at the Hopper Funeral Home, Saturday after 6:00 pm and Sunday after 10:00 am until the funeral hour at 2:00 pm.
