ISABELLE CRIPPS DIES AT HOCKADAY TUESDAY
Services were held at the Free Methodist church at Hockaday September 3 at 2:30 p.m. for Mrs. Isabelle Cripps, conducted by Rev. C. H. Woods of Gladwin. Burial was at the Butman cemetery. Isabelle Cann was born J uly 13, 1863, in Wellington, Ontario, she died August 31 at her home near Hockaday. She married Sylvester Cripps November 24, 1879. Mr. Cripps died in 1930. Mrs. Cripps joined the Free Methodist church in 1894.
She is survived by her eight sons and two daughters, Ernest of Fenton, Archie of Saginaw, Harry of Cleveland, Harvey, George, William and Mrs. Rose Ockerman of Gladwin; three brothers, Lewis and Abe Cann of Canada and Richard of Gladwin. [NOTE: Herbert, Fern, and Mrs. Lavina Ockerman were missing from this list]
Sylvester and Isabelle moved to Sanilac County, Michigan in 1881. In 1893 they moved to Hockaday, Gladwin County Michigan. Isabelle's name is listed as Clarabelle on Lavina's marriage certificate.
