Obituary for Georgetta R. Dawson
Georgetta “Jetter” Dawson, of Spartanburg, SC, died Friday, July 24, 2015, at her home. Born July 8, 1922, in Pacolet, SC, she was the daughter of the late Roy and Grace Worthy Harrold. She was the widow of her first husband, Paul D. Ravan and her second husband, James A. Dawson Jr.
A loving mother and grandmother, Mrs. Dawson was a member of St. Mark United Methodist Church.
Surviving are her son, Paul D. Ravan Jr. and wife Judith of Gaffney, SC; daughter, Linda R. Kirby and husband Laverne of Modoc, SC; grandchildren, Robert Ravan, Jr. (Eileen), Judy Giebeler (Adam), Caroline Vennetti (Mark), Angela Ravan, Mike Ravan (Melissa), and Richard Ravan; five great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, and sister-in law, Joyce Arthur; and special pet “Babe”. She was preceded in death by her son, Robert L. Ravan; great-granddaughter, Josselyn Giebeler; brother, William Harrold; and sisters, Lavenia Robinson and Bernice Whitlock.
Visitation will be 10:30-11:30 AM Monday, July 27, 2015, at Floyd’s Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29307. A graveside service will follow at 12:00 noon in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307, by the Rev. Wayne R. Major.
Memorials may be made to St. Mark United Methodist Church, 3055 East Main Street, Spartanburg, SC 29307.
