Robert Welwood was the senior clerk in Kings County Court and for many years the Republican leader of the First Assembly District in Brooklyn and he had also served as superintendent of accounts in the Commissioner of Records' office.

He was also a member of The Society of Old Brooklynites, the Midtown Civic League, the 11th A. D. Republican Club and St. Albans Lodge 5, F. & A.M.

Surviving are his widow Annie (Anna Marie Agnew) Welwood; sons Robert and Joseph, daughters, Florence Amerman, Mary Prindle, Anna Osborne, and Edith Welwood; sister, Miss Susan Catherine Welwood; four grandchildren.
