B. Olin Backus, 77, of 3488 State Route 104 died Saturday at home after a long illness.
Mr. Backus was a life resident of Mexico. He was a salesman with Oswego County Weeklies. Mr. Backus was a former town of Mexico supervisor and councilman and a former Mexico village trustee.
Mr. Backus was a member of the Mexico United Methodist Church and a former member of the Mexico Lions Club, the Mexico Fire Department and Elms Golf Club.
Surviving are his wife, the former Jeanette Kellogg; two daughters, Judith Backus of Mattydale and Brenda Hotchkiss of North Syracuse; two brothers, R. Charles and Horace, both of Mexico; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Harter Funeral Home. Burial will be in Mexico Village Cemetery.
Calling hours will be 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home, 5305 Washington Ave.
