Judith A. Backus, 73, of Mexico, formerly of Brewerton; the daughter of Olin and Jeanette Backus and sister of Brenda Backus Hotchkiss, left her loved ones here, to join her loved ones in heaven, on Tuesday, October 2, 2018. After a cancer diagnosis in January, Judy was able to spend her final nine months creating memories with those she leaves behind. Those memories will be forever cherished.

Judy was a New Accounts Manager for Merchants Bank in Syracuse and was also employed by K.O.M. Lamb in Syracuse; retiring from both. She joined the Eastern Star in 1997 and served as Matron for two years and was Grand Representative to the state of Indiana for two years. She was also a Church Organist in various Churches in Oswego and Onondaga Counties, along with being a member of the Brewerton United Methodist Church. Judy was Secretary for the Town of Clay Planning Board and a member of the Onondaga County Board of Election.

Funeral services will be held at 12 p.m. Saturday, October 6, 2018 at the Cleveland United Methodist Church, 73 Bridge Street, Cleveland NY. Private Interment will be in the Mexico Village Cemetery, Mexico NY. Friends and family are invited to call from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Saturday, at the Church. There will be a service of the Eastern Star, prior to the funeral. Funeral arrangements are in the care of the Harter Funeral Home, 9 Washington Avenue, Mexico NY.
