Announcement was received here today from Peoria, Ill- announcing the death there Saturday night of James Jenkins, former Oshkosh man. It appears that Mr. Jenkins, despondent and brooding because of continued and persistent ill health due to tubercular affection, had determined upon self-destruction and had taken poison to that end.
James Jenkins was the son of Mr. end Mr. J. Howard Jenkins, pioneer residents of Oshkosh, both of whom are now dead. For several years he was In the Insurance business here. At the time of the world war, he was engaged in social service work at Brooklyn. N. Y. and during the war served In Red Cross work in this country. He returned home shortly, before the death of his father and remained until a short time ago. For a short time, he was a patient at Sunnyview sanatorium previous to going to Peoria, where he went in the hope of benefitting his health.
The body is expected to arrive in this city tonight and funeral services are to be held in private tomorrow morning. The remains will be accompanied by a sister, Mrs. A. B. Lancaster of Chicago. and her daughter.
Mrs. Earl Rogge. Mrs. Lancaster and another sister. Miss Hester P. Jenkins of Skiclmore college. Saratoga, Springs, N. Y, are the only Immediate survivors.
