Valued for his organizational skills and business integrity, he also served as township treasurer, supervisor and clerk at Fairfield; township and village clerk at Elsie; and deputy surveyor and county surveyor for a decade.
Only child of this couple was: Ida, 1868-1940. She married Frank W. Clement, 1860-1936. They were also buried in lot 384/2 in Riverside Cemetery, Elsie, Clinton County, Michigan.
