Born in San Giovanni Rotondo to Berardino and Angela Maria De Bonis, Daniele Natale entered the Capuchin Order in 1933, taking his solemn vows on May 12, 1940 at the Friary of Montefusco. Renouncing the studies for priesthood, choosing instead to lead his religious life as a lay brother, Saint Padre Pio of Pietrelcina chose him as one on his spiritual sons, and through him learned to live the mystery of sickness as a means of purification and sanctification. Distinguishing himself for his humanitarian activities in Foggia during the Second World War, following Padre Pio's death he spent his years touring Europe diffusing the Capuchin saint's messages. Passing away in his native San Giovanni Rotondo on July 6, 1994, his cause for beatification was introduced on July 7, 2012. Originally buried inside his family's chapel at the local cemetery, in 2015 his remains were transferred to the church of Santa Maria delle Grazie.
