A. Lester Orner, 91, of Larimer Avenue, Turtle Creek, formerly of Mill Hall, died at the Hope Hill Nursing Home, Greensburg, on September 5, 1987.

Mr. Orner was a retired boiler maker at Lock Haven University (formerly Lock Haven State Teachers College). He was a member of the Bald Eagle Presbyterian Church, Mill Hall.

He was born April 14, 1896 in Mill Hall, a son of George B. and Jennie Inkelton Orner. He was first married to Marian Orner, who died in 1959. He later married the former Mira Williams, who died October 18, 1986.

He was survived by four daughters; Clare Johnson of Shannon, NC, Shirley Smith of Gainesville, FL, Phyllis Shaffer of Mill Hall, and Janice Algier of Newton, GA; three sons: A. Lester Jr. of Turtle Creek, Eugene of Santa Rosa, CA, and Kent of Miami, FL; three step-daughters; Eugenia Gates of Tucson, AZ, Janet Howell of Omaha, NE, and Vivian Greist of Philipsburg; one stepson; Joseph Williams of Lake Worth, FL; 19 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; eight step-grandchildren; and eight step-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were at the Dean K. Wetzler Jr. Funeral Home, Mill Hall, with the Reverend Lee McCardle officiating.

Interment was in the Cedar Hill Cemetery.
