August Albrecht, 86, passed away unexpectedly at his home in Miles City last Wednesday. He was a former resident of near Terry where he farmed from 1907 until 1947, when he retired and moved to Miles City.
Born in Germany August 1, 1837, he came to America when one year of age. His parents settled in Wisconsin where he spent his boyhood, entering the Spanish American War when 17 years of age.
In 1901, after the war, he returned to Wisconsin and in 1904 was married to Lena and a year later moved to Minneapolis where they lived for three years. His wife died in 1947, and in 1950 he was married to Merle Foley at Miles City.
He served as a Department Commander of the Spanish American War Veterans from 1957-1958 and also from June 1964 until the present time. He has served as commander of the Miles City Spanish American War Veterans for the past ten years. Mr Albrecht has been an active member of the veterans Council of Miles City.
Survivors include Mrs Albrecht and five daughters and other relatives.
