Anna Charles Smith Lawless, Anne as she was known to everyone, went to her eternal home with Christ, her LORD, on August 12, 2015. Preceded in death by her beloved husband, Bobby Joe, in 2009, Anne is survived by her precious daughter, Renee; dear cousins, Frank and Jim Trent; extended family, Ken and Mary Badgett; and a host of friends. She was an active member of First Baptist Church, Jacksonville, for 37 years. After, graduating as Valedictorian of her High School, she entered the University of Tennessee School of Nursing in 1957. Three full years later, she earned her diploma in nursing, passing State Board Examination, becoming a Registered Nurse in 1960. Later, Anne was commissioned into the US Navy Nurse Corp Reserve at the age of 50, a most impressive accomplishment and was Honorably discharged after 10 years of service as a LT. Commander, USN. Anne donated her body to medical science, at her beloved Univ. of Tennessee, therefore, a memorial Service Celebrating her life will be held at First Baptist Church, 124 West Ashley Street, Jacksonville, FL 32202, Aug. 22, 2015 @ 2:00PM. Family will receive friends at 1:00 for Visitation in the Hobson Auditorium. Arrangements entrusted to Hardage Giddens 729 S Edgewood Ave Jax Fl 32205. In lieu of flowers, please, the family requests a donation to the First Baptist Church, Jacksonville, Florida.

Moving to Jacksonville, FL. in 1970, she went to the OR. Staff nurse, private assistant to a Plastic Surgeon, Open Heart Team, and, Head Nurse in Neurosurgery for 12 years. In 1989, she accepted a position with the largest medical laser company as a Clinical Educator. Anne traveled the US teaching laser technology and surgical technique to physicians, staff, and medical office settings for the last 22 years of her career, retiring in 2011 at age 72. In the early '70's she was the only female team nurse in the World Football League, supporting the Jacksonville Sharks. During this time, Anne was commissioned into the US Navy Nurse Corp
Reserve at the age of 50, a most impressive accomplishment. Honorably discharged at the age of 60 as a LT. Commander, another childhood dream realized to be a navy nurse and serve her Country. She was very active in promoting and serving in her professional organizations: Association of peri-Operative Registered Nurses, and American Society of Lasers in Medicine and Surgery. She received the 'Pennacle of Excellence Award' in 2006, also, the Cambridge Who's Who, 'Excellence in Nursing & Clinical Education', 2010.
