Floren Petk, 80, of 1007 S. Seventh, who accidentally drowned in Redlands Canal Monday morning, had lived in Grand Junction for 40 years.
Until he retired in 1958 he was a dock worker for the Rio Grande Motorways. In earlier years, he had mined in Trinidad, Winter Quarters, Utah; and Hudson, Wyo.
Born May 2, 1893, in Krajn, Yugoslavia, he came to the United States in 1910. He married Helen Sodja at Price, Utah, on May 17, 1921. He was a member of the Catholic Church.
Surviving in addition to Mrs. Petek are four sons, Joseph and John of Grand Junction, Thomas of Dumont Colorado, and Frank of Riverton, Wyo; four daughters, Mrs robert Stokes of Grand Junction, Mrs W.K. Kindsvater of Denver, Mrs. M.G. Lyon of Farmington, N.M. and Mrs. R.R. McCarrie of San Pablo, Calif; 19 Grand Children and Seven Great Grandchildren.
