Lake Lure - Jeff Clay Brooks, 96, of Lake Lure entered into eternal rest Tuesday, August 1, 2006, at Autumn Care in Forest City.
Jeff was born in Baldwin, Ga. on June 1, 1910, and was the husband of the late Carra A. Brooks. He was the son of the late Will and Eula Davis Brooks.
In addition to his wife,
he was preceded in death by four sisters and five brothers.
Jeff owned and operated Brooks Grill in Lake Lure for over thirty years; he enjoyed food and loved to get together with his friends and eat.
He enjoyed gardening, especially his cucumbers. He was an avid rebuilder of any thing mechanical, especially anything automotive.
Jeff is survived by his daughter, Joe B. Wilson and her husband, Robert, of Lake Lure; grandson, Robert B. Wilson and his wife, April, of Mount Pleasant, S.C.; and his great grandson, Brooks Wilson.
The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Chimney Rock Baptist Church with the Revs. Gene Daggerhart and Larry Sanders officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 1p.m. until the service hour at the church.
The funeral arrangements are entrusted to Brigman's Funeral Service in Black Mountain.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Chimeny Rock Baptist Church, Cemetery Fund, P. O. Box 157, Lake Lure, NC 28746
