He arrived in St. Louis in 1871, at the age of 27. In 1892, in Chicago, he took as his wife Helen Phiambolis, daughter of the Rev. Oiconomos Phiambolis, priest of the Greek Church of St. Louis. He purchased the patent on an apparatus for heating buildings & continued in that business until 1873. That year he established, on a small scale, the Missouri Tent & Awning Co. which came to be the largest company of its kind in the US.
By the time of the World's Fair of 1904 he had been appointed consul of the Greek govern-ment, a position he held for many years. At the Columbian Exposition of 1893 in Chicago, he had been the Royal Greek Commissioner. King George I of Greece bestowed upon him
