Robert Cotesworth Follett passed away on May 20, 2014 in Kingman, AZ, at the age of 97. He was born Oct. 20, 1916 in Fargo ND to Leland Carl Follett and Bertha Jeannette Enggren Johnson Follett. The family lived in Sabin, MN and Moorhead, MN, but after the Great Depression began, they moved to Mosinee, Wisc. in 1930. He graduated from High School in 1934 in Mosinee. The family returned to Fargo in 1936.

Robert attended North Dakota Agricultural College (now NDSU) in Fargo, graduating in 1939 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering.

He married Virginia DeValska in St. Paul, MN on May 17, 1941. They lived in Fargo and had six children together.

During World War II Robert served in the Army Signal Corps, from July 1, 1942 to March 1946. He attended Officers Candidate School at Camp Crowder Missouri and finished OCS in New Jersey. He was stationed at Camp O'Reilly in Puerto Rico as a Second Lieutenant, later promoted to Captain. He performed communications work as a Telephone & Telegraph Installation and Test Engineer and Post Signal Officer. He received the American Theatre Medal and Victory Medal.

Bob worked at Northwestern Bell Telephone Company in Fargo, ND, where he was an accounting manager. He retired on July 1, 1976 after 41 years. After retirement, he did volunteer work for the Red Cross and Blood Services as a driver.

Over the years, Bob enjoyed spending time with his family at their lake cabin on Little Toad Lake, MN. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing and photography, and was an avid reader. He was a dedicated father and family man and his family will love and miss him always.

His wife Virginia died in 2002. In Jan. 2005 he remarried, to a long-time family friend, Eileen Kaufer Olsen, and moved to Medford, OR. where they lived on the property of her daughter and son-in-law. In March 2013 when his health began to fail, Bob moved to Kingman, AZ and lived with his daughter Nancy and her husband. His second wife Eileen was diagnosed with cancer and passed on in Sept. 2013 in Medford, OR, but not before she had travelled to Arizona to see Bob at least twice in Kingman.

Bob was preceded in death by his two wives Virginia and Eileen, his son Steven Follett, parents Leland and Bertha Jeannette Follett, his sister Janice Follett Patman (Texarkana, TX), and his step-mother Katherine Wheelock Bristol Follett.

He was survived by his 5 daughters, 12 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren (with an additional two on the way), as well as his step-children in Oregon.

Funeral services were held at the Boulger Funeral Home in Fargo on Wednesday, May 28, 2014 at 1:00 p.m, with visitation starting at 12:00 p.m. Following services, a burial with military honors guard was held at Holy Cross Cemetery North in Fargo, ND.
