Bertha Jeannette Enggren Johnson Follett (who went by the name Jeannette) was born in Minneapolis, MN in 1891. Jeannette attended Moorhead State Teachers College and taught at a school in Minnesota for a time. But after her marriage, they lived in Fargo, ND and she raised the children there.
After Lee retired, the couple took many trips to the south and southwest in the winters, which Birdie enjoyed very much. It was on one of these trips, that she was struck with a sudden heart attack upon leaving a restaurant in Scottsdale, Arizona. She died at the age of 71.
