Albert O Harmel, well known old-timer in the Terry community, died suddenly Friday morning at the Terry hospital of a cerebral hemorrhage and complication following an illness of about one day. He suffered a severe attack at his home Thursday evening, and was brought to the hospital here that night.
Albert Otto Harmel was born at Posen, Germany, on December 28, 1878, the son of Gottlieb and Wihilmiena Harmel. He completed his education course in Germany comparable to a high school education.
In 1893 he left Germany and came to the US and to Blue Earth MN, where he lived until 1900. He attended school for one winter while in Blue Earth and in 1900 he came to MT.
Mr Harmel settled on his homestead about 10 miles north of Terry in 1902 and has since made his home there. He was married on February 11, 1914, at Fallon to Marie Hansen Graff, and they made their home on the farm north of Terry.
He made scores of friends in and about Terry, and took an active interest in the welfare of the community. He was a member of the Terry Community church and was at one time a member of the Woodman Lodge of Terry.
Surviving Mr Harmel are his wife, one daughter, Mrs Annette C Overlie of Rochester MN, and one son, Albert Graff Harmel of Terry. a sister in Tintah MN, Mrs Henriette Harmel Hundt, and four sisters and three brothers in Germany as well as one grandchild also survive.
Funeral services were held in the Terry Community church Monday afternoon. Interment was made in the Terry cemetery. The pallbearers were Carl Anderson, L D McMakin, August Albrecht, Paul Overlie, I E Thomas, Raymond Dolatta and W S Haley.
