He married first in Monaghan Twp. –?– Dubbs/Tubbs who apparently died after bearing him a son named David Mumper, who was born 16 July 1801. She may have been the daughter of Michael Tubb, who worked for Georg Michael Mumper from 3 Oct. 1771 until 3 April 1777.
John married second Christina "Jane" Beelman (1781-1864), the daughter of Christian and Christina (Brenneisen) Beelman. Jane was born 10 Nov. 1781 possibly in what is now Upper Allen Twp. where her parents were buried.
John grew up in a period of increasing prosperity for the Mumper family. He was nine years old when his father helped his grandfather build a sturdy stone house on Mountain Road, a few miles west of Dillsburg, York Co., Pa.; prior to that the family would have lived in a log house. Whereas his father had probably attended school at the Franklin Lutheran and Reformed Church where he learned to read and write in German, almost certainly John and his siblings went to a local school where they learned to read and write in the English language.
John & Jane were the parents of 11 children: Ann, Elizabeth, Christina, Maria, Michael B., Margaret, John, Catharine, Lydia, Samuel & George W. Mumper.

From a genealogical standpoint, he was a direct descendant of German immigrant Georg Michael Mamber/Mumper & Anna Margaretha -?-.. The vast majority of Mumpers, listed here at FindAGrave and otherwise residing in the United States, consider Georg Michael to be the common patriarch.
