Obituary in The Bienville Democrat December 9, 1971:

Funeral services were held Friday, December 3 at Cypress Springs Baptist Church for W.P. Cole, 73, who died Dec. 1 at Schumpert Hospital. Chaplain William Page of Barksdale Air Force Base, a great nephew of the deceased, officiated. He was assisted by the Rev. Charles Wallace. Burial under the direction of Conger Funeral Home was at Williamson Cemetery near Gibsland. Pallbearers were nephews and nephews-in-law, including B.G. Guice, L.M. Cole, J.H. Cole Jr., T.B. Cole, H.C. Cole, A.G. Page, Malcolm Stone, and L.N. Batchelor.

Willis Paxton Cole was born October 19, 1898, the son of Joseph A. and Mattie Wilkerson Cole in Sailes Community where he spent his entire life. He joined Cypress Springs Baptist Church at an early age. He was a retired employee of the Louisiana Soil Conservation Department. He was married in 1926 to the former Miss Syble Payne, who survives her husband.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Syble Cole; a son, J.A. Cole of Gibsland; a daughter, Mrs. Sidney (Betty) Smith of Bossier City; two brothers, Dan Cole of Gibsland and A.L. Cole of Bossier City; a sister, Mrs. Clara Guice of Bossier City; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
