Gibsland Bank & Trust director and vice-president Dan Edward Cole died August 17 at the Lincoln General Hospital. He had been a director of the Gibsland Bank since July 29, 1955 and was retired from the Louisiana Department of Agriculture. Cole was a native of Sailes and a long-time resident of Gibsland. He was a Mason and Shriner and a member of the Gibsland Baptist Church.
Funeral services ere conducted on August 18 at the Conger's Funeral Home Chapel in Arcadia by Rev. M.F. Copeland, assisted by Rev. Stan McGee. Burial was in Mt. Lebanon Cemetery. Pallbearers were W.P. Sutton, Jimmy Ray Johnson, Jack Taylor, Charles Jowers, Arnold Ray Caskey, Odell Walker, E.W. Merritt, Waller Nelson, Enoch Nix, and Winlock Van Cleave.
Survivors include his wife, Elva Whitlock Cole of Gibsland and one brother, A.L. Cole of Bossier City, and a host of nieces and nephews.
