A memorial service for Raymond W. Savage will be at 11 a.m. Monday in Memorial Gardens Funeral Chapel in Vancouver.

Disposition will be by cremation. Interment will be in Evergreen Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Vancouver.

Mr. Savage died of heart and lung disease Thursday in his Vancouver home. He was 65.

Born May 31, 1927, in Decatur, Ill., Mr. Savage worked as a longshoreman for 24 years before his retirement in 1990. He had lived in the Vancouver area for the last 60 years.

Mr. Savage served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

A sister, Ilene Rose, died in 1932. A second sister, Viola Judd, died in 1991. A brother, Lee Schafer, died in 1979.

Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Betty of Vancouver; sons, Terry of Fallon, Nev., Bert of Ridgefield, and Carl of Vancouver; daughters, Virginia Lynch of Vancouver, and Vickie Edwards of Seattle; brother, L.R. ''Bob'' Rose of Vancouver; and six grandchildren.

The family suggests remembrances be contributions to either the International Longshoremen's & Warehousemen's Union No. 4 Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 61629, Vancouver, Wash. 98666-1629 or to the Oregon Major Junior Hockey Education Fund, P.O. Box 6405, Portland, Ore. 97228.

Raymond's father was sentenced to 10 years in the Oregon State Prison for Robbery and Assault. (Oregonian, Portland, Oregon; June 26, 1929, Page 12).

In 1932 Raymond's little sister, Iliean, died in a tragic accident when her dress caught fire while playing near the stove in their home. (Oregonian, Portland, Oregon; Thursday, February 18, 1932, page 1; Friday, February 19, 1932 Funeral notice)

In September of 1932 Raymond's mother was granted a divorce from Lee R. Rose (Oregonian, Portland, Oregon; Thursday, September 15, 1932, Page 14).
