Jeffie Asbell Fisher Peterson, of Carlyle Place, died Tuesday, September 8, 2015, following an extended illness.

She was born on May 31, 1923, to the late Claude Eloise Jones Asbell and George Eugene Asbell in Macon, Georgia. Mrs. Peterson graduated from A. L. Miller High School in 1941, and began a secretarial career as a Civil Service employee at Cochran Field during World War II.

Later she moved to Tampa, Florida, and was a secretary at Seminole Furniture store where she met Charles Lyman Fisher, to whom she was married for thirty years until his death in 1977. They returned to Macon, and Mrs. Fisher was employed by GMAC, later transferring to Decatur, Georgia, and becoming an Executive Secretary with GMAC. She remained in that position until her retirement many years later. In 1997, Jeffie married Henry DeWitt Peterson, and they were married until his death in May of 2011. Mrs. Peterson was a member of Oak Grove United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Peterson was pre-deceased by her Mother and Father; brothers, Fred W. Asbell and George W. Asbell; a sister, Mrs. Martha Sauls; and a niece, Mary Jo Yarbrough.

She is survived by a sister, Ann Oxley (Ben); and a brother, Dr. Jimmy Asbell (Alice); sister-in-law, Helen Asbell; nieces, Jean Glass (Kenneth), Melanie Trowbridge (Larry); and nephews, Dr. David Sauls (Teresa), Rudy NeSmith (Denise), Col. Billy Asbell (Robin), Michael Oxley (Susie), Keith Oxley, Chris Oxley, Dr. Jimmy Asbell, Jr (Vanda), and David Asbell (Cary); and numerous great nieces and nephews; a step-daughter, Melody Nadolni (Gordon); step-grandchildren, Kimberly Nelson, and Charles Nelson (Mandy); and several step-great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held Thursday, September 10, 2015, at 3:00PM at Hart’s at the Cupola with Dr. Jimmy Asbell, Jr. officiating. Visitation will be 2:00-3:00PM preceding the service. Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to your favorite charity.
