A. B. ALLEN, OF BELOIT, KILLED WHILE PREPARING FOR HIS BROTHER’S FUNERAL.

Beloit-, June 23- A distressing and peculiar accident occurred in the city this evening. Mr. Abner B. Allen an old resident and a brother of E. C Allen who died this morning, from a fall, was killed and shockingly mangled by a Chicago, Milwaukee & St Paul passenger train while he was driving across the track coming into the city to attend to some matters pertaining to his brother’s funeral. He approached the track near the Babbitt farm, stopped his horse for an instant as though watching for the train, then started up and was struck by the engine and instantly killed, his horse being ground to pieces. He was about 75 years old and once kept a livery stable here.

(This was on the same page just below is brother E.C Allen’s obituary.) (Janesville Daily Gazette [Janesville, Wisconsin] June 27, 1890, Page unknown.) (Credited to Justine 6 August 2016.)
