Edward Allen “Eddie” Kirby, age 79, of Hibriten Dr., passed away Saturday, October 15, 2011 at Lenoir Healthcare Center. He was born January 28, 1932 in Caldwell County to the late A.B. and Celia Elizabeth Andrews Kirby. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by two sisters, Sarah Evelyn Barlow and Delores Freeman.
Mr. Kirby was retired from Broyhill Plant 3 and was of the Baptist faith.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Edith Bacon Kirby of the home; a daughter, Esther Elizabeth Reid and husband Lester; a granddaughter Tanya Michelle Barnett, all of Lenoir; a sister, Darlene Oswald of San Antonio, TX; special great niece, Samantha Stafford of Georgia; three sisters-in-law and one brother-in-law; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 19, 2011 at 2:00 PM at Greer-McElveen Funeral Home Chapel conducted by Pastor Joe Angle. Interment will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 7:00-8:30 PM at the funeral home.
