Edith Bacon Kirby, age 76, of Hibriten Dr., Lenoir, died Wednesday, February 25, 2015 at Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care – Lenoir. She was born October 27, 1938 in Bulloch County, Georgia to the late Frank D. and Thelma Denmark Bacon. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Allen Kirby; brothers, Shelton Bacon, Jimmy Bacon, Frank Bacon, Jr. and Colon Bacon; and brother-in-law, Irvin Hagan.
Mrs. Kirby was retired from Bernhardt Furniture and was a member of New Hope Baptist Church. She will be greatly missed by everyone she loved.
Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Esther Reid and husband Lester of Lenoir; one brother, Benji Bacon and wife Dean of Georgia; two sisters, Nilaree Thomas and husband John and Pearl Hagan, both of Georgia; one granddaughter, Tanya Michelle Barnett; special nephew, Ashley Hagan; and sister-in-law, Coralee Owens.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 28, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at Greer-McElveen Funeral Home Chapel conducted by Pastor Joe Angle. Interment will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
Serving as pallbearers will be family and friends.
